Two bedrooms, one double, one twin. Sleeps 4
This wonderful old cottage thought to date from the 17th Century has been lovingly restored and is many visitors’ favourite of our cottages.
It offers a cosy lounge with log burner, dining room and semi connected kitchen area formed around a staircase with a half landing to a modern bathroom.
At first floor is a king bedroom with en-suite and a large twin room both with stunning views towards Muncaster Fell.
To the front of the cottage, new for 2022, is a hot tub in an enclosed garden with views South towards the coast,
The Cottage is available singularly or with one or more of our other cottages.
The space
The Cottage offers quality fixtures and fittings blended with the old world charm of open beams and a mixture of slate and timber floors. The new windows and front door were built in a joinery in nearby Santon and much of the conversion work was undertaken by local tradesmen.
The emphasis is on ‘traditional’. Whilst the kitchen and bathrooms are modern, they respect the design and form of the house. In fact this is thought to have formerly been 2 cottages as it had 2 staircases - one has been realigned and the second converted to provide an en-suite bathroom to the master bedroom.
A log burner has been retained in the original fireplace and the timber shutters to the living room windows and William Morris wallpaper add to the ambience of the room.
There is freesat tv, full central heating and limited WiFi.
Ain House has an on-site wood and easy access to Irton Fell to the north with paths onto Illgill Head where there are tremendous views into Wasdale and towards the Scafell range.
The property is orientated to the south maximising exposure to the sun and the wonderful views of Muncaster Fell, Birker Fell and the coast. There is a fore-garden for the private use of Cottage guests.
Guest access
The grounds are generally open to use by guests, provided the immediate vicinity and privacy of each property is respected. Due care and attention to safety should be exercised - the woods are interesting but on a hillside.
